ABC Challenge: C is for Crystals
By A.J. on May 21, 2016 in ABC Challenge , Nail Art
The theme for the next ABC Challenge is ‘C’ which, in my book, is for CRYSTALS.
I created the crystal accent nail using the tutorial by an amazing youtube nail artist Sarah R, see her tutorial here.
I followed the technique using gel polish. I applied a few layers of white gel polish and then added the rhinestones in a layer of uncured top coat. I then used a toothpick and filled the in-between areas with ‘no wipe’ top coat giving it a very strong steal.
I am very happy about finding out about this technique as this seems to be the most durable way to wear full nail rhinestones without dulling them with top coat.
The rhinestones are from this seller on Aliexpress. I got the ‘mix size’ pack, however, I’d say the two largest sizes in there are way too big to use on nails. Other than that, they are as of great quality considering they were less than £3. They are better quality then the usual cheap glass rhinestones available online. The only thing I noticed was that, when used with nail glue, they get dull – hence using them with gel polish.
On my other nails I am wearing two coats of Barry M Almond with a layer of Rimmel matte top coat.
And here’s how both of my hands turned out :)
I added a bit holo with Color Club Cloud Nine. I stamped my middle finger with Born Pretty stamper nr 77 and used Bundle Monster clear stamper – the only clear stamper that I have found to be actually working for me.
Pro-tip: if you already have a clear stamper that doesn’t work, just buy the stamping heads and replace the head part and save money like I did lol.
It’s still hit and miss with some polishes (such as the Colour Alike stamping polishes which I own like 10o of affff…). However, works well with the Color Club holos, so thank you so much Claire (Kerruticles) for recommending it.
You can check out below what other people have created this week :)
