Models Own Glitter Gel

So the most exciting nail polish news yesterday was the release of the new Models Own Glitter Gel polishes. The collection consists of five glittery shades and I have all of them swatched for you!

Models Own Glitter Gel review

The Glitter Gel polishes come with unique glittery caps. Unfortunately the glitter on the caps doesn’t match the glitter in the bottle (it kinda matches the colour but not the glitter type/size etc).

The five polishes were different formula wise so I will give you my views under the titles below. Something similar they all shared was that they dried quite fast. This was when applied with two coats.

I am wearing two thicker coats with no top coat of each polish on the pictures.

The polishes have flat brushes as in the latest HyperGel collection (swatches here).

Models Own Starburst

Starburst is a black polish full of tiny olive green and blue glass fleck glitter.

Polish was very easy to apply and the finish was smooth.

Models Own Red Carpet

Red Carpet is a red polish full of soft iridescent flakes and tiny golden glass fleck glitter.

Application of this polish was easy regardless of being full of flakes. The flakes are very soft. On some photos they may look a bit bumpy but really didn’t feel so.

Models Own Petunia Glitz

Petunia Glitz is a bright magenta version of Red Carpet.

It really is as bright as it looks. Super gorgeous and my favourite obviously!

Models Own Sheer Sparkle

Sheer Sparkle is, as the name indicates, a very sheer polish full of tiny golden and silver glitter. There are some occasional flakes there as well but they are barely evident.

The formula was good to apply but overall I did not like this polish. It just looks so underwhelming compared to the rest.

Models Own Crystal Pink

Crystal Pink is a sheer pink polish full of silver metallic glitter.

The formula was easy to apply but the finish very sheer. On the swatches I am wearing two coats but it didn’t make much difference with three.

Initially I disliked it due to the sheerness but wore it for a bit last night and it actually grew on me. A very natural and glittery look at the same time.

Overall the Models Own Glitter Gel collection is a bit different to what I expected when I first saw the press release images. I really loved the bold and bright Petunia Glitz and Red Carpet but Sheer Sparkle left me disappointed as I was hoping for an intense golden glitter bomb.

Let me know what you think of the new Glitter Gel’s.

Thanks for reading!

Was excited for these but disappointed by the sheer glitters and the red looks very similar to the sweet shop collection red glitter? Will pick up that pink and black though! Great swatches! X

Thank you so much for sharing! I’m disappointed with the Gold and Pink, I was really hoping they would be like Pink Fizz in opacity! The Black and Magenta though are BEAUT

You are right, I was hoping more for the gold but so happy with the magenta and red and black as well lol xx

Decided to give the crystal pink a go and like you it’s grown on me! Actually quite like it now despite initial disappointment. Got the petunia and the sheer too so hope I feel the same about those! The girl in the bottle shop said she thought the red was v similar to the sweet shop one too – I didn’t bother as its too similar to the diamond luxe red that I have already so don’t really need it!
