REVLON Shine Addict Nail Buffer

REVLON Shine Addict Nail Buffer is an electric nail buffer that promises the removal of nail ridges and a nail polish like shiny finish on your nails.

I know a lot of people are against buffing nails. This is mostly due to the fact that by buffing nails, you remove or buff away some parts of your nails which therefore could make your nails thinner and more prone to breaks. My nails are quite strong and I do occasionally buff them as they have ridges in them. What I have found however, is that to buff your nails to a shiny finish, it takes a lot of work. Hence I was quite keen to review this electrical buffer.

The buffer works with 2 AA batteries and comes with two different ‘buffers’. The first one, in grey colour, is for buffing the nail. It is warned that you shouldn’t use it no longer than 2 second per nail to avoid damage. This is used to remove ridges and to prepare the nail for polish application.

The second ‘buffer’ is white in colour and is used for polishing the nail aka making it shiny.

I found that using the grey buffer for 2 seconds per nail really made the ridges look smoother and it also made the cuticle area look quite clean. I was curious what would happen if one was to keep the buffer going for say 10 seconds per nail. I did a test run on the free edge of my thumb nail. Nothing catastrophic happened like it didn’t burn through my nail or anything. So I would say it is fairly safe to use. It did make the nail to look slightly thinner but it still feels fairly strong. Overall I would recommend to follow the 2 second rule as directed by the manufacturer.

The white buffer added a nice glossy touch to my nails. Unfortunately a bit hard to capture but it really does look like there is clear nail polish on my nail. I do prefer wearing a coat of clear nail polish instead of plain nail however.

Overall I wouldn’t say this is the most vital tool to have in your nail care bag but a rather nice addition when you like your nails buffed and can’t be bothered to do it with a manual? buffer. It really cuts down on the time you would spend on buffing each nail by hand as it takes less than a minute per had to have buffed nails. The only downfall is that the refill buffers cost almost a £10 per 4. The product itself retails for £29.90 on Amazon.
