Hello and happy Wednesday! Firstly, today I have a long loved polish to show you. It’s called Essie Ballet Slippers. Secondly, it’s a PR sample and there haven’t been one on the blog for a while. I was sent the polish as part of Essie‘s National Friendship Day celebrations.

Queen Elizabeth’s favourite polish?
I would be surprised if you have NOT heard of Ballet Slippers nail polish. It’s an iconic nail polish which is often featured in the media as the most elegant nail polish. Mostly, because it is believed that at one point Queen Elizabeth herself requested a bottle! (source).
Unfortunately, upon my research, there is no photo evidence of the Queen wearing this nail polish. Furthermore, it seems like the Queen has completely given up on wearing nail polish these days which really is a shame. However, there were rumours that Meghan was going to wear it for her wedding with Prince Harry, but I don’t think it was ever confirmed.
Nevertheless, the polish is definitely one that could get the stamp of approval from the royals; it’s subtle, but elegant and beautiful.
Essie Ballet Slippers review
Ballet Slippers is a very pale (almost white) pink polish with a slightly sheer crelly finish. Due to the sheerness of this polish, careful application is required to ensure an even finish. On the swatches below I am wearing two coats of polish with no top coat.
I personally prefer the polish as a two coater as I quite like the visible nail line underneath. I do think that with thee coats, opacity would be achieved. As already mentioned, application really needs to be ‘on point’ to avoid streaks. This is because this shade/sheerness polish can be very difficult to get right.
My nails are slightly yellow (with the exception of my middle nail as I had an overlay to fix the broken tip). I noticed that, the cold pink shade of the polish really neutralised the yellow nail base.
I do think that this polish is quite an ‘obvious’ shade rather than a barely noticeable shade for very strict environments. However, I would definitely wear it for my wedding! think it looks like a perfect wedding polish!
So, what do you think? Would it get YOUR seal of approval? It does get mine!
