Hello friends! I have been extremely busy with all the uni assignments (just 1 left now!!!) but since I got the new OPI Summer Neons 2014 collection the other day and there isn’t many swatches available online I decided to do a quick (read looong) post to show you how these polishes look. I purchased the whole set of seven polishes via Ebay. I paid about £40 including shipping for the whole set and it took nine days to arrive :) The set comes with six OPI neon colours and a white OPI Natural Nail Base Coat. The base coat is called Put a Coat On! and it is a bright colour booster which pretty much means that it is just a white polish. I found that it needs two coats to be perfectly streak-free.
OPI Push & Pur-Pull
Push & Pur-Pull is a purple creme polish with semi- matte finish. It is not very opaque and seemed to leave slightly patchy finish with two and even three coats. On the first swatches I am wearing two coats of Push & Pur-Pull with clear base and no top coat.
Next I am wearing three coats of Push & Pur-Pull on top of OPI Put a Coat On! and Poshe top coat.
It looks better with white base and top coat but still slightly patchy when you look carefully.
OPI Juice Bar Hopping
Juice Bar Hopping is a neon orange creme polish with semi- matte finish. On my first swatches I am wearing two coats on top of natural nail with no top coat. It looks quite neon on a natural base but there is some visible nail line. Formula wise this polish was great.
On top of white base Juice Bar Hopping really popped into a NEON orange. Gorgeous bright and flawless finish with just two coats and top coat.
OPI Life Gave Me Lemons
Life Gave Me Lemons is a neon yellow (with green undertones) creme polish with semi- matte finish. On my first swatches I am wearing two coats on top of natural nail with no top coat. This polish was very easy to apply and the formula was quite opaque- there is barely any visible nail line.
Applying Life Gave Me Lemons on top of the white base did not make a drastic change. It was quite neon and opaque on its own already. On the swatches below I am wearing two coats on top of Put a Coat On! and top coat.
OPI Hotter than You Pink
Hotter than You Pink is a neon pink polish with blue shimmer and semi- matte finish. On the swatches I am wearing two coats on a natural base. The formula was not the greatest but I love anything pink, especially a polish with such a gorgeous blue shimmery finish. There was some visible nail line after two coats.
Putting Hotter than You Pink on top of the white base turned the bright pink even brighter, almost too bright to photograph! On the swatches below I am wearing two coats on top of Put a Coat On! and top coat.
You are So Outta Lime!
You are So Outta Lime! is a neon green creme polish with matte finish. On my first swatches I am wearing two coats on top of natural nail with no top coat. This polish was great to apply and it was quite opaque.
Whereas You are So Outta Lime! looked great on it’s own it looked even better on top of the white base coat with glossy top coat!
OPI Down to the Core-al
Down to the Core-al is a neon coral polish with shimmery matte finish. On the swatches I am wearing two coats on a natural base with no top coat. The formula was bad- I mean look at these streaks :( but the colour is sooo amazing!!! :D I can see myself having a love-hate relationship with this one!
Down to the Core-al is, as many other polishes from this collection, pretty on it’s own but with the white base and a layer of top coat it achieves the perfect neon a girl (or a boy) needs! You wouldn’t go unnoticed wearing this polish, it is, when you survive the application process of course :P
Overall a nice set of neons with a variety of formulas. White base is highly recommended but could easily be replaced with just your normal white polish. I know a lot of people are not keen on adding a white base as it’s an extra step but I think it is worth it as it really turns some of the colours from neon to NEON.
I can see myself using these polishes a lot in the summer!
Thanks for checking out my OPI Neon 2014 swatches- let me know what you think!
