Hello and happy Bank Holiday Monday! Here in the UK, we sure are blessed with a number of Bank Holidays this time of the year. I have been off work for over two weeks and to be honest, I am quite looking forward to going back tomorrow :) Anyhow, I’m have Essence Shine, Last & Go nail polish review prepared for you today.
Essence Shine, Last & Go nail polish review
Essence is a well known German make up brand. Because of the cheerful designs of the products, I believe that it is targeted towards younger audiences. The brand is easily accessible on the high street. In my experience, most Wilko stores have a well stocked stand.
It appears that Essence has re-branded the polishes that were known as ‘The Gel Nail Polish’. First of all, they have not only changed the bottles, but also the name and the shade range. It seems like there is a number of new and refreshed colours. Consequently, it appears that some of the previous lush colours have disappeared (I’m talking about the most flawless green called Loyal Royal – see swatches here).
Quality wise I have only positive things to say. The polishes were easy to apply with the flat rounded brush. Formula wise the polishes needed around two coats to achieve opacity (obviously there are exceptions). Furthermore, the new formula dries fairly fast which is always a bonus!
Above all, the polishes retail for only £1.60 a pop which is hard to beat in this economy.
Essence Mrs Brightside
Mrs Brightside appears to be a new shade for the range. It is a bright yellow creme polish with green undertones. In the shop I was convinced that it is a unique yellow, but looking at it now I’d say it looks pretty average.
On the swatches I am wearing three coats with no top coat.
Essence Party Princess
Party Princess is a iridescent glitter polish in pink sheer base. This is a shade from the old range, however, it has been updated. It appears to be in a more tinted base now (see comparison of the bottles above). I really like the updated version.
On the swatches I am wearing two coats of polish with no top coat.
Essence Big City Vibes
Big City Vibes is a vibrant brown polish full of shimmery flake glitter. This again is a new shade for the range, I love it! On the swatches I am wearing two coats with no top coat.
Essence Say My Name
Say My Name is a dark teal green full of small silver and royal blue shimmer. I am known for not being a fan of greens, but this little beauty just caught my attention and I could not leave it in the shop. On the swatches I am wearing two coats with no top coat.
Essence City of Stars
Finally, City of Stars is a dark blue polish full of green and royal blue flecks. It really looks stunning on the nail. On the swatches I am wearing two coats with no top coat.
I am very happy with the new Essence polish range. In addition to the beautiful refreshing colour section, it is evident that the formulas have been improved, but the price has stayed the same.
