Hello, after quite a few months (about 10 to be exact lol) I am back with another Poundland Jess nail polish review. I reviewed/swatched some back in December (find the post here).
The polishes seem to be so popular that I decided to do another review of the latest colours as the Jess stand at my local Poundland was full of new colours.
Poundland Jess nail polish review
The first thing I noticed about the new Jess polishes compared to my old ones was that they didn’t smell as strong/bad as the old ones. They still smell bad but not as strong.
Formulas were not the best, I got some occasional patches/streaks etc but none of them were totally unworkable. Possibly would get the best looking finish with a layer of top coat.
Drying time also varied, some dried very fast such as the Matte top coat. Others took longer to dry, especially when 2+ coats were applied so a fast drying top coat is recommended.
As of the colours I really liked some and others left me quite ‘meh’ lol.
Jess Minted
Minted is a light jade green polish with tiny blue shimmer finish. On the swatches I am wearing two coats of polish with no top coat.
Jess Dragonfly
Dragonfly is a glitter topper full of small green and blue metallic glitter. On the swatches I am wearing two coats of polish on top of Jade and a layer of top coat.
Jess Hot Pants
Hot Pants is a bright (pinkish) lilac polish with tiny shimmer in the finish. On the swatches I am wearing two coats of polish with no top coat. Love the colour of this one!
Jess Matte top coat
On the swatches I am wearing one coat of Matte top coat on top of Hot Pants.
On the swatch below I am wearing the very popular but unfortunately discontinued Rimmel Pro Matte finish on my pinky and ring fingers and Jess Matte top coat on my middle and index fingers. I actually like the matte effect from Jess polish more but Rimmel did have a better formula.
Jess Electric Avenue
Electric Avenue is a sheer neon pink polish with jelly finish. On the swatches I am wearing two coats of polish with no top coat.
Jess Zest
Zest is a yellow polish with tiny shimmer in the finish. On the swatches I am wearing three coats of polish with no top coat.
Jess Rio
Rio is a green polish with creme finish. On the swatches I am wearing two coats of polish with no top coat.
Jess Cafe Latte
Cafe Latte is a beige polish with subtle shimmer in the finish. On the swatches I am wearing two coats of polish with no top coat.
OK, so as of the colours I really loved Hot Pants and I also liked the Matte top coat. Dragonfly and Cafe Latte also stood out for me as good-looking. I absolutely disliked Rio which is totally not my colour but I can see myself using it for some Halloween looks.
