Welcome to my blog

China Glaze Sesame Street Collection

Hello again! It’s time for the last, and the longest blog post of the day! China Glaze Sesame Street Collection is a twelve-head collection which I have swatched for you today. The collection is a collaboration with Sesame Street. Sesame Street is a well known American children’s television show.

I have to admit, I have never watched the show, but somehow I am familiar with some of the characters. Like, who does not know Elmo or the Cookie Monster?!

I did not intend to buy the collection, but when visiting Salon Services yesterday, I noticed these teeny little bottles of polish that I just had to have. Anyway, without further ado, here’s the collection in it’s full glory.

China Glaze Monsterpiece

Monsterpiece is a fuchsia pink polish full of soft holographic flakes in a pink jelly base. On the swatches I am wearing two coats with no top coat.

This polish is very pretty and was one of the first ones to catch my attention. Application wise it was a bit tricky. It was quite patch-prone on the first coat. I managed to achieve a beautiful finish with a second thicker coat. Overall I believe that it would look the best with a layer of glossy top coat, but I prefer to show swatches as they are when possible.

Apparently this polish is inspired by the Telly monster who obsessed with watching TV. I think these days we have more instagram and internet monsters (including me) than telly monsters :D

China Glaze Living in the Elmo-ment

Living in the Elmo-ment is a warm red polish full of holographic glitter. On the swatches I am wearing two coats with no top coat. I like the polish as much as I like Elmo, the inspiration behind this polish. I do feel that this polish looks a lot better with a layer of glossy top coat as seen on the last images.

China Glaze Ernie Your Stripes

Ernie Your Stripes is a coral polish full of golden flecks. On the swatches I am wearing two coats with no top coat.

This polish is inspired by Ernie who is an orange muppet who looks like a bit of an idiot, but you gotta give it to him – the polish is beautiful!

China Glaze I Believe in Snuffy

I Believe in Snuffy is a shimmery pink polish full of gold pearl undertones and some silver flecks. On the swatches I am wearing three coats with no top coat.

This is a beautiful polish, but was rather hard to capture. It’s inspired by Mr Snuffleupagus who I have never seen nor heard before.

China Glaze Beak on Fleek!

Beak on Fleek! is a dull-ish yellow polish with matte finish. On the swatches I am wearing three coats with no top coat.

Now this polish was a bit of a disappointment. Most noteworthy, regardless of three coats, I could not get this polish to appear without patches (my awesome cameraman-ship has made it appear a lot better on the photos than it did in real life). It left quite deep patches on application and did not self level very well. I gave up after three coats because no-one has time for four coats. And it also had some black particles in the polish which is visible on my pinky finger, not cool. The colour itself is fine, but the formula ruins the polish.

I bet the Big Bird (who is the inspiration for this polish) is as disappointed as me!

China Glaze Trash Can-Do Attitude

Trash Can-Do Attitude is a green polish full of golden shimmer. On the swatches I am wearing two coats with no top coat.

This polish is inspired by Oscar The Grouch, who lives in a rubbish bin… as you do. Love, love the polish though. Probably one of my top three favourites form the whole collection.

China Glaze Free to be Sesame

Free to be Sesame is a green tinted polish full of green holographic glitter.  On the swatches I am wearing two coats with top coat. I didn’t bother showing this one without top coat as I know it looks so much better with top coat, it basically mandatory.

Polish inspired by Kermit the Frog who is probably one of the most famous of the muppets. As of the polish, the green is not Kermit enough for me. I think the above polish would have been more suitable for Kermit and vice versa.

China Glaze Dat Color Dough

Dat Color Dough is a metallic blue glitter polish in clear base. On the swatches I am wearing three coats with no top coat.

After I applied the first coat I was pretty disappointed, but with three coats, the polish built up a nice opaque metallic glitter finish. Lush! This is obviously inspired by the Cookie Monster!!

China Glaze Grover It

Grover It is a sparkling dark blue polish full of holographic glitter and some flake type of glitter. On the swatches I am wearing two coats with no top coat.

This polish is inspired by Grover who is a dark blue lanky muppet. The polish really is a beautiful addition to the collection. Due to the glitter in the finish this beauty would probably look better with top coat.

China Glaze Ah Ah Ah-Mazing

Ah Ah Ah-Mazing is a lilac polish with strong pearl finish.  On the swatches I am wearing two coats with no top coat.

The strong pearl vibe of this polish reminds me of the late 90’s and early 20′ where pearl was a very popular finish. It’s a great little polish, but not very forgiving if your nail plate is not perfect. Oddly this polish had a bit of an odd smell, I can’t really describe it. I would say it wasn’t extremely bad smell, but not pleasant either.

China Glaze I Count Even

I Count Even is a sheer crelly lilac polish. By Sheer, I mean SHEER. Probably the most sheer polish I have ever seen. Might as well not wear any polish lol. On the swatches I am wearing two coats with no top coat.

On a serious note this polish is interesting as it kinda brightens the natural nail and makes it look quite healthy. But I still don’t see myself wearing it ever again. It’s inspired by the vampire muppet.

China Glaze Fur Real Though

Fur Real Though is a neon pink polish with jelly finish. On the swatches I am wearing two coats with no top coat.

Lush colour, very bright and beautiful coverage with easy to apply formula. Another beauty that deserves top three position in my fave list :)

I’m really pleased I got the China Glaze Sesame Street Collection. It’s been really fun swatching the polishes and testing out the formulas. I am also pleased that I didn’t break the bank and the whole collection only cost me £15. Whereas I don’t think the 3.6ml bottles will last me very long, the colours in this collection are very versatile. I think they could be used in summer, but also in the winter for different Christmas looks.

Thanks for reading! xxx
