Poundland Jess nail polish review

By on September 15, 2014 in Reviews , Swatches

Hello, after quite a few months (about 10 to be exact lol) I am back with another Poundland Jess nail polish review. I reviewed/swatched some back in December (find the post here).

The polishes seem to be so popular that I decided to do another review of the latest colours as the Jess stand at my local Poundland was full of new colours.

Poundland Jess nail polish review

The first thing I noticed about the new Jess polishes compared to my old ones was that they didn’t smell as strong/bad as the old ones. They still smell bad but not as strong.

Formulas were not the best, I got some occasional patches/streaks etc but none of them were totally unworkable. Possibly would get the best looking finish with a layer of top coat.

Drying time also varied, some dried very fast such as the Matte top coat. Others took longer to dry, especially when 2+ coats were applied so a fast drying top coat is recommended.

As of the colours I really liked some and others left me quite ‘meh’ lol.

Minted is a light jade green polish with tiny blue shimmer finish. On the swatches I am wearing two coats of polish with no top coat.

On the swatch below I am wearing the very popular but unfortunately discontinued Rimmel Pro Matte finish on my pinky and ring fingers and  Jess Matte top coat on my middle and index fingers. I actually like the matte effect from Jess polish more but Rimmel did have a better formula.

OK, so as of the colours I really loved Hot Pants and I also liked the Matte top coat. Dragonfly and Cafe Latte also stood out for me as good-looking. I absolutely disliked Rio which is totally not my colour but I can see myself using it for some Halloween looks.

Thanks for checking out my Poundland Jess nail polish review, let me know what you think of Jess polishes in the comments section. xxx

Gosh, I must admit I just glanced over the Jess polishes and didn’t really give them much of a chance. I may have to go take a closer look now… not so keen on the jelly ones, but the creme and matte top coat look worth checking out further!

I really liked the Matte top coat just the formula wasn\’t perfect but still usable and gives such a lovely matt effect.

I love the Jess nail polishes but it would appear that Poundland is no longer doing them. If anyone knows who is doing them now please let me know. Most are good but the glitter ones are fabulous. I wore Rimmel and Jess on alternate hands and Jess won outright. Chips were worse with the Rimmel so I combined the two. Use a solid colour of Rimmel with a top coat of Jess. Fantastic result.
